Interests:
Photography, wodworking, acting, policing, playing bagpipes - you name it. I will try just about anything...some things I keep up, some I don't, but there isn't much I haven't tried!
Favorite Music:
Generally speaking, I like the quiet stuff (with a few exceptions), but not elevator music. I am certainly not into country, but like the pop of the 70's/80's, classic jazz - that sort of stuff. If I had to pick a favourite rock band, it would be Uriah Heep - some wonderful stuff there, both musically and lyically. Some of their stuff gets pretty deep and I enjoy discussing the message of their music with my older children.
Favorite Movies:
Is there a genre called 'intelligent comedy'? I can't take the silly slapstick type movies, but love comedy that is subtle and almost subliminal. I can't stand horror (I don't scare easy, it's just a waste of my time) but will watch suspense if it is well done (eg Silence of the Lambs). I like the documentary type stuff (Fahrenheit 9/11) as I am always anxious to learn something new. But mostly, when I watch a movie, I want a break from life and want to walk out with a smile on my face and a laugh in my sole. Does that make any sense?
Favorite TV Shows:
Just about anything on TLC, Discovery, National Geographin, etc. As far as mainstream TV, take away those crazy non-reality "reality" shows. Those have be way over done - give me something to laugh at that's well written - I guess my taste in TV is much the same as movies. Oh, "Reno 911" rocks!!! (especially when one can look at it from a policing point of view )
Favorite Books:
Books, hmmmm. It has to be something that sucks me in right away, and from which I can learn. I don't have any interest in fiction. I don't get much time to read and when I do, I want to come away knowing just a little bit more about our world.
